Introduction about Dot 2 Inernational 2021
The upcoming Dota 2 International 2021 has been officially confirmed by Valve via a video update. However, there are many questions about the dates and location of the event. In this article, we will look at some important factors that will affect the 2021 Dota 2 International.
Here’s a quick Summary for Dota 2 International 2020:
The Dota 2 International 2020 is just around the corner. This year’s event will not be very different from previous versions of the international of 2019, but some changes may affect the upcoming version of the tournament. For example, we get a long break before and after TI this year. We also see how an investment company has paid the entrance fee for some teams. Also, we can say that the following factors would affect the 2020 Dota 2 International in some way.
Talking about Dota 2 Interantional 2021:-
The Dota 2 International 2021 will take place in August 2021, according to Valve’s official announcement made today via an update video on YouTube. This year’s edition of The International is scheduled for August 20-25 at the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada.
This year we will get a long break before and after The Dota 2 International 2019. Also, it’s something that’s happening since 2016 when Valve increased the number of major tournaments per year to two: one in spring and one in autumn, with the qualifiers for both events taking place over the winter months. Before that, there was a long break from the end of the previous year’s International until the beginning of the spring major, which meant players could have a very short competitive season if their team failed to qualify for it.
Deduction in Prize Pool for Dota 2 International 2021
As long-time fans will remember, each International has seen a steady decline in prize pool since its debut in 2011. This is due to Valve reducing the amount of money they contribute directly towards the prize pool, instead opting for ‘fan contributions’, which are then used to purchase Battle Passes
The International 2019 saw a record low prize pool of just $1.6 million, almost half the previous year’s contribution ($3.1 million). In this article, I will predict the prize pool for Dota 2 international 2021 and hopefully more!
How does the Dota 2 international prize pool get paid out?
The total prize pool is paid out to teams in the form of ‘shares,’ with each share being worth a fixed amount.
The International 2019 prize pool breakdown:
- 1st place – $15,000,000 45%
- 2nd place – $7,500,000 22.5%
- 3rd/4th place – $3,750,000 10.5%
- 5th-8th place – $2,100,000 6.25%
- 9-12th place – $1,350,000 4%
- 13-16th place – $1,050,000 3%
- 17-20th place – $675,000 1.75%
- 21-24th place – $325,000 0.875%
- 25-28th place – $300,000 0.825%
- 29-32nd place – $225,000 0.6125%
- All remaining teams receive $90,000 or 0.25%.
- Total = $32,989,046 100%
At the end of every International, Valve uses the total prize pool to calculate how much each share is worth. This means that this year’s prize pool will be split into $32,989,046 shares which are then distributed between The International 2019 Battle Pass owners. Each Battle Pass can hold up to 1000 different ‘levels.’ Each level can be leveled up by playing one match of Dota 2.
Dota 2 international 2021 prediction – How much will the prize pool be?
A recent post made on the official Dota2 subreddit predicted that The International 2021 would have a $33 million prize pool. This is based on the premise that Valve will continue to use 25% of their profits from in-game cosmetics (and other sources) towards the actual prize pool for The International. In this article, I’ll be discussing if Dota 2 international 2021 is going to have a bigger or smaller prize pool than its predecessor, Dota 2 international 2019.
In early 2019, Valve announced that Dota 2 and Artifact combined had made $500 million in the previous 12 months. Since ‘The International’ makes up 25% of all money earned by Valve during this time period, we can estimate that The International 2018 made $125 Million. If we use this amount to calculate how many Battle Passes were sold, we can get an estimate on how much money was contributed to the prize pool by fans.
