Vinesh Phogat: Indian wrestler Vinesh Pokhat has won a gold medal in the women’s 53 kg weight category at a wrestling event in Ukraine.

In wrestling in Ukraine, Indian wrestler Vinesh Bogat faced world number seven Vanessa of Belarus. Vinesh Pokhat, who excelled in the final, led 4-0 at first. But the rising Vanessa scored 4 points to make it 4-4.
Vinesh, who led 6-4 at the break, had a strong lead of 10-8 in the last 25 seconds of the match. After all of Vanessa’s efforts in vain Vinesh secured the gold medal. With this victory, he has achieved success in the international arena for the first time in almost a year.
According to a Twitter post released by SAI, “Indian athlete Vinesh Bogat won the gold medal by defeating world number seven Belarus’ Vanessa 10-8 in the women’s 53kg final.”
Vinesh, who has won gold medals at the Asian and Commonwealth Games, defeated Romania’s Elephant to reach the final. Vinesh has already qualified to compete in the 53 kg weight category at the upcoming Olympics in Tokyo. Vinesh is currently set to take part in the next series in Rome from March 4th to 7th.
