Baba Ramdev was born on December 25, 1965, in the village of Alipore in the Mahendragarh district of the Indian state of Haryana, the son of Ram Niwas Yadav and Gulabo Devi. His given name is Ramakrishna Yadav.
He started his schooling at a school in Alipore. He attended the school till the eighth standard and later joined the Gurukul. He joined various Gurukuls and chose to study Indian literature, yoga, and Sanskrit. He learned a lesson from the monks in the clans and wanted to become like them. As a manifestation of this, he dressed in saffron and became a monk.

He has been active as a spiritual leader who has learned many Vedas and is a famous yoga teacher. Many famous actresses and key figures including Amitabh Bachchan and Shilpa Shetty have been attending and training in yoga training class camps run by his Patanjali Yogpeeth Institute. Also, crowds claim to be benefiting from attending his yoga classes.
In this context, Baba Ramdev’s voice that homosexuality is a curable dementia and that there is a cure in Ayurveda for the deadly disease AIDS, which threatens the human race, has been met with protests and controversy from many quarters.
While living in the Kalwa Gurukul in Jind district of Haryana, he taught free yoga to the villagers there. Later, he went to Gurukul Kangri University in Haridwar with the aim of studying ancient Indian scriptures. He spent many years there and read Aurobindo Ghosh’s book, Yogic Sadan.

After intense training in self-control and meditation, he co-founded the Divya Yog Mandir Trust with Acharya Nitin Soni. First, his yoga practice aired on Astha TV. This was so well received that many began to follow him.
