When director S.A.C. made his debut in the 1992 film ‘Tomorrow’s Judgment’, Kodambakkam said, ‘Daddy is taking a poison test for his son’s wish’. But the film rocked the box office. After that, he struggled to retain him. S.A.C. did what he could as a father without the slightest hesitation. Although the introduction went very simple, Vijay had to wait a few years to taste an overwhelming success.
Vijay became a commercial hit hero after ‘Poove Unnagaha’. The film is a family story so Vijay was taken from house to house and made to sit. It ran for 200 days and was a record. It proved that Vijay can also act.
Going beyond this is ‘Kushi’ directed by SJ Surya. Jyotika and Vijay co-starred in the film. To this day it remains the best film for both. Vijay’s memorable performance in the film went beyond his fan base to many frontiers. Vijay’s ‘Shiva’ character Jyotika’s ‘Jenny’ character can never be forgotten till today. In it Vijay turned his face into a romantic hero.
